What Makes the “Reconnection Journey to the Edge of the World” Extra Special

Beyond Estonia’s mainland, you’ll island-hop through a world that feels both timeless and untouched — from the storybook calm of Muhu to the wild, wind-swept beauty of Saaremaa, the far side of Europe.

Trade city noise for seabird song and the sound of waves.

Embark on a private seal-watching boat expedition across quiet waters where grey seals rest on sunlit sandbanks.

Wander through Koguva, a perfectly preserved fishing village; trace ancient legends at the Kaali meteorite crater; and feel history turn in the breeze at the Angla windmills.

Learn about Estonia’s ancient forms of healing — gather remedy plants, craft herbal infusions, and take part in traditional sauna rituals that restore body and spirit.

Experience the wild, untouched nature of Saaremaa, where meadows bloom with medicinal herbs, forests whisper old stories, and time moves with the rhythm of the earth.

All at a relaxed pace — no rush, no crowds, just pure reconnection.

Stay in heritage manors, dine on gourmet island cuisine, and let nature remind you what balance feels like.

This isn’t just a journey — it’s a return to yourself, at the edge of the world.

Day 1: Arrival in Tallinn — A Step Back Through Centuries

Your journey begins in Tallinn, where medieval towers pierce the northern sky, red-tiled roofs glow against the sea breeze, and every cobblestone seems to whisper stories — of merchants, monks, and  secrets from centuries past.

A private driver greets you at the airport and whisks you into the Old Town, where you’ll settle into the 4 star boutique accommodation — a 14th century merchant’s house turned into boutique retreat. Tucked inside the city’s ancient walls, this historic gem offers the perfect blend of Old World soul and quiet luxury.

Later, your small group  will be met by an English-speaking private guide, dedicated exclusively to your party. Together, you'll take a gentle walking tour through UNESCO-listed Tallinn Old Town, exploring hidden courtyards, Gothic spires, artisan studios, and centuries-old alleyways carved by time and trade.

As evening arrives, Tallinn is yours to explore. Whether you choose a tavern lit by candlelight, a modern tasting menu tucked behind medieval walls, or simply a slow walk under the glow of lanterns, this night is your first chapter.

-  Dinner is not included tonight, but your guide will gladly recommend restaurants tailored to your taste — rustic, refined, or something in between.

Day 2:  Crossing Waters — The Islands of Timeless Traditions

Are you ready to leave hustle-culture behind and dive deep into yourself in surrounding, where nature and coastal water itself begin to shape the rhythm of the day?

To the Islands

The journey goes directly to Virtsu Harbour, where a short ferry ride carries us across the Baltic Sea to Muhu Island — a world that seems to float just slightly outside of time.

On Muhu, traditions are still woven into daily life: women don embroidered folk costumes for midsummer, elders pass down ancient songs, and islanders still bake black bread the way their grandmothers did.

The island air tastes of sea salt, smoke, and something older — something sacred.

The day continues in Koguva, a beautifully preserved fishing village on Muhu where time slows to the pace of the sea breeze.

From Ancient Villages to Ancient landscape - bog

Our path leads onward — over the sea bridge and into Saaremaa, Estonia’s largest island, Muhu’s wilder, wind-swept sibling where land, legend, and sea meet.

Saaremaa is a place shaped by sea, stone, and saga. Viking burial sites lie beneath the moss. A medieval castle guards the bay. And not so long ago, this island formed the westernmost edge of the Soviet Union, its beaches once watched by soldiers instead of seals.

Before we take a deeper look into Saaremaa, we step into one of Estonia’s oldest natural wonders — the ancient bog. A wooden pathway leads us across a dreamlike landscape where moss glows emerald underfoot, pools mirror the sky, and silence feels alive.

At the end of the walk, we pause for a peaceful forest picnic — simple, fresh, and full of local flavour. Depending on the season, you may also taste the wild berries that grow in the bog — cranberries, cloudberries, or blueberries — nature’s own quiet gifts.

You may not have known what a bog truly is, and that’s the beauty of it. You never know when you’ll fall in love. This place has that power — to make you forget that somewhere out there are people, cities, and electricity. Here, you begin to breathe with nature’s rhythm again.

Pilguse Manor — Nature, Nobility, and a Sauna or Two

All around you, the island stretches out in wind-blown meadows and ancient coastal plains, home to one of Europe’s highest concentrations of wild plant species — a quiet wonder for nature lovers.

As the day softens, you arrive at Pilguse Residency — a restored 16th-century estate with modern Scandinavian charm and a rebellious heart.

Once the birthplace of Fabian von Bellingshausen, the Estonian-born explorer who first discovered Antarctica, Pilguse today is a soulful retreat on 90 hectares of pure, untamed island nature. Here, you can relax in traditional Estonian saunas, explore forest trails and lakes, or sip a herbal cocktail while watching horses graze near the Baltic Sea.

This is luxury of a different kind: warm, wild, and quietly spectacular.

Pilguse_drone_valmarifoto-005-2428547426.jpg

Dinner at Pilguse Restaurant is rooted in seasonality and island produce — a menu that shifts with the land and sea. From whole smoked trout to handcrafted spirits, every bite and sip reflects Saaremaa’s deep culinary rhythm.

Depending on the weather, you may find yourself joining a nomadic dinner under the stars, or savoring dishes from a guest chef’s pop-up kitchen — always intimate, always unforgettable.

Choose freely from the menu, pay locally.

And when the night falls, let the wind write lullabies and the manor walls hold your dreams.

Day 3: Body detox, mind detox, and into the bargain.

Saaremaa is the perfect setting for a wellness retreat — rich in nature, tradition, and tranquility. And Pilguse is its heart.

Nature in, natural in, modern left behind.

You slept well, didn’t you? You enjoyed the slow, special breakfast? Now you’re ready for a mindful walk — a gentle immersion guided by our fairy-minded herbalist who knows every leaf and bloom of this land.

Western Saaremaa is one of the most biodiverse regions in Europe. Here, where human footprints are few, the air feels newly born and the meadows stretch wild and free. Much of this landscape is protected — alive with butterflies, medicinal herbs, and fragrant grasses. Depending on the season, the colors change: in May, tender greens and blossoms; by midsummer, meadows in full bloom; in late August, fields rich with berries and wild scents. Beautiful for the eye, healing for the body — every plant carries its own quiet power.

Our walk follows forest trails and coastal paths, focusing on silence, sensory awareness, and reconnection with nature. Along the way, we gather traditional remedy plants — nettle, dandelion, yarrow, St John’s wort — each with a story, a use, and a soul.

Back at the manor, the magic begins. Our harvest transforms into fragrant body scrubs, herbal teas, salads, and rejuvenating tinctures — guided by old wisdom and modern simplicity. The flavours depend on the land and the season: from detoxifying greens to soothing herbs that calm both mind and skin.

And then, the ritual deepens. With the help of these same plants, we continue our detox in a traditional Estonian sauna — heat, scent, and nature blending into pure renewal.

IMG_2729.JPG

Traditional smoke sauna — Beyond the words

Sauna ritual is unperfect without a smoke sauna and its heating. You did not imagine that. For heating we need 5 hours. We need to take the char out. We need to ventilate smoke. But heating stones are hot and birch bundles are soft: whisking will start!

No, that is not all. You can cool your renewing body in a pond. Blood is circulating like you are in love. Your cheeks are flushing. Your mood is light.

Time to journal a bit to let the impressions settle and thoughts get clear.

IMG_3930.JPG

The chef is waiting for you in Restaurant. Time to nourish your detoxified body with a beautiful dinner. No rush, no pressure, only all-embracing pleasures, loved tastes and surprising flavours. ( Choose freely from the menu, pay locally).

We understand if the day has been so intensive that you would like to absorb it silently.

Have you ever seen the midnight sun?

If the weather is kind and we linger a little longer, we might catch a golden sunset melting into the sea — a moment when time itself seems to pause.
In Estonia, summer days stretch almost endlessly. So far north, the sun barely dips below the horizon, and even at midnight, the world glows with a soft silver light. These “white nights” wrap the landscape in a dreamlike twilight that never truly ends.

And since we are here, on the edge of the world — Saaremaa , sometimes also called  Ultima Thule — there’s no better place to witness it. We take a silent walk along the coast, or a playful one if you wish, listening to the whisper of waves and the cry of seabirds. Some may choose to wade into the sea, to feel that luminous water around them — half-night, half-day.

It’s a moment for gratitude and renewal, to breathe in the salt air, to let go of the old with the setting sun, and to welcome the light of your new rhythm with nature.

Sunset: Coastal Ceremony

Where is a better place to do it than on the edge of the world in Saaremaa.

We choose a likeable coast, take a Silent walk to the coast - or cunning, if You are in the mood - and Watch the sun dip below the horizon.

Time to breathe in gratitude and salty air, time to let old go with sun, time to set intention for your pure new life.

Day 4: Cruising to Seals, Secret Waters & Wild Islands

This morning, the sea calls.
From the quiet shores of Papissaare Harbor — once a busy thoroughfare for sailors, smugglers, and seal hunters — you’ll board a private boat and head toward the horizon.

Your destination?

Harilaid Peninsula and the remote islets beyond, where a large colony of 300–400 grey seals rests on quiet sandbanks, undisturbed and utterly charming.

These curious creatures, protected and playful, may swim near the boat or even peer up with wide, whiskered faces.
And if the sea is kind and your spirit bold — you might slip into the Baltic for a once-in-a-lifetime swim with the seals. (No fangs here — just flippers and curiosity.)

It's not a zoo. It's not a show.
It's just you, the sea, and a moment of wild grace.

Boat Picnic & Vilsandi’s Forgotten Rhythms

Here, where the sea writes the schedule and the birds own the sky, you’ll enjoy a boat picnic of very Saaremaa products.

Next stop: Vilsandi Island — a windswept gem at the edge of Europe. Vilsandi is home to Estonia’s oldest nature reserve, protecting over 250 species of birds, including soaring white-tailed eagles and rare migratory visitors.

The island is quiet, timeless — no paved roads, just juniper groves, coastal meadows, and fossil-lined shores shaped by wind and memory. A handful of resilient islanders still call it home, continuing old ways: fishing, foraging, storytelling, living with the tide.

Here, life moves differently. And maybe, for a moment, you will too.

Return to Pilguse — Glowing & Grateful

After a day of salt, sky, and seal-songs, return to Pilguse Residency with windswept hair, sea-blushed cheeks, and the kind of story that begins with, “You won’t believe what happened near Harilaid...”

If there’s still energy in your sails, unwind with a visit to the hot tube, a twilight walk through wildflower fields, or a nightcap under northern stars.

Dinner tonight is served back at Pilguse, where the warm, seasonal menu reflects the same connection to land and sea that shaped your day. ( Choose freely from the menu, pay locally).

Note: If the sea has other plans, we adapt.Private nature walks, spa indulgence, or seal watching from shore may take the helm — always memorable, always in tune with the wild.

Day 5:  The Island’s Heartbeat: Springs, Butterflies & Quiet Paths

Today we follow the rhythm of Saaremaa itself — slow, pure, and deeply alive.

We begin at Odalätsi Springs, where crystal-clear water rises gently from the earth. Once believed to have healing powers, these springs still carry the quiet magic of old legends. Locals say that washing your face here brings good fortune — and perhaps they’re right. The brave ones can try it.

Next, we venture toward the Harilaid Peninsula, where dunes, wild orchids, butterflies, and seabirds guide our path. The air smells of salt and pine, and thoughts begin to move in rhythm with the wind and waves. If the weather is kind, you’ll find a stretch of perfect sandy beach — one so peaceful that even on the busiest day, it might host ten people at most. At the far tip of the peninsula, a lone lighthouse leans gently into the sea, an icon shaped by time and tide.

This western edge of Saaremaa is a place of quiet wonder — among Estonia’s most biodiverse areas, full of rare plants and untouched landscapes. Here, the island breathes slowly, and so will you.

A forest picnic unfolds in a sunlit clearing — local cheese, fresh bread, berries, and herbal infusions from the land around you. Everything tastes richer here, in the pure air and soft light of the island afternoon.

By evening, you return to Pilguse Manor, glowing softly in the dusk.

Dinner is à la carte — your final evening to savour Saaremaa’s flavours, its stillness, and the peace that comes when you move in harmony with nature.

By now, you’ll likely find yourself fully attuned to the island’s rhythm — calm, grateful, and beautifully alive.

Day 6:  Dunes, Windmills, and a Candlelit Farewell.

If the morning is kind, we rise early for one last walk through the wild. Pilguse’s surrounding meadows and forests often surprise the quiet observer — with glimpses of deer, foxes, or even a shy elk stepping between trees as mist clings to the land.

After a peaceful breakfast in the heart of Pilguse’s nature, the road calls once more — but not before one last encounter with the island’s soul.

More old than you’ve ever imagined

Now we go back to history 450-million years and let us be amazed by Fossil Beaches,  those drawn to Earth’s deep memory: old cliff-beach whispers stories in ancient stone. Wander the rocky shoreline and trace time with your fingertips as you find fossils from the Ordovician sea.

Later, in the charming town of Kuressaare, explore the best-preserved medieval castle in Estonia — its stone walls rising proudly beside calm waters and cobbled streets.

On your way back to civilization you’ll visit one of the most otherworldly sites in the Baltics: the Kaali Meteorite Crater, where — nearly 4,000 years ago — a fireball from the heavens struck the Earth. Some believe it inspired legends across ancient Europe, and the cosmic iron forged here was traded by Baltic peoples far and wide.

Return to the Mainland —  One Last Toast

The ferry carries us back to the mainland, and soon Tallinn’s red roofs and medieval towers rise into view once again.

We gather for a farewell dinner in the heart of Tallinn — under candlelight, maybe even outdoors, under Nordic sky, if the summer weather smiles.

It’s a celebration of everything: the wild places we touched, the stories we shared, the quiet we rediscovered.

You came looking for something purifying. Estonia gave you something timeless.

Day 7: Departure — A Story Carved into Your Heart

After a final slow breakfast, your private transfer awaits — but the true journey doesn’t end here.

In your mind’s eye, Estonia will linger:

A fog-draped bog glowing at sunrise, the silent watch of a seal slipping through cold water, the warm hum of a manor’s creaking floor, the scent of pine and sea wind braided into your memory.

And perhaps, somewhere deep inside, a quieter part of you has returned home too.

Until we meet again, wild heart.

While we dine as a group, each guest is free to choose from the menu whatever speaks to them — perhaps a chanterelle burger, freshly caught local fish, or a seasonal vegetarian dish.
